If crap smells like crap it probably is crap

Are you supposed to laugh or cry when you come across Swedish centralistic crap like this?

The historian Fredrik Persson, Ph.D., from Lund University is uncontested talking about what he thinks are terrible regional sentiments existing in Scania in 'Nyhetsmorgon', TV4 (one of the largest television stations in Sweden) and in the Swedish state radio, SR.

Instead of finally confessing Sweden's guilt in this regard and trying to resolve the issue for the future, Mr Persson is strongly down-playing Sweden's invading wars in Scania, ethnic cleansing of Scanians and subduing of the Scanian people. He then tries to argue for the dangers of a Scanian population that knows its own history and being proud of themselves in their own right.

The mere opinion of opposing the Swedish centralistic state rule in Scania makes you per se strange, in his view. Furthermore, all Scanians and even the Scanian Regional Counsil 'Region Skåne' are collectively clustered together, by obvious guilty-by-association strategies to Skånepartiet and rasism.

The portrayed picture about the Scanian movement is completely wrong. It is wrong on so many levels it would easily fill a book. However, there are already plenty of books written on the subject, even if they, not surprisingly, also have been/are discredited by the Swedish centralistic government. Nevertheless, Mr Persson's nationalist Swedish scorn is nothing new under the Scanian sun. It is the same old Swedish nationalistic message since the Swedification process began in the 17th century but in a sligthly new packaging.

Scanians have heard it all before from the Swedish school system, from Swedish media and locally coming from the Swedification university number one, Lund University. Lund University was even founded for the purpose of making the East Danish people in Scania good Swedish people.

Finally, Mr Persson is a Swedish citizen from middle Sweden (obviously), who is working in a Swedification university, making Swedish centralistic remarks and discrediting a Scanian democratic, grass-roots movement. Can you find a better example of a basic credibility deficit in science, please let me know? I cannot.

Historic research? Hardly.

Political agenda? Most probably.
